Write your Forty Lick's

February 10th 2003
Lyrics by Cozz/Pop's/Kid
Music by Cozz McTaylorwood

This song was inspired by the 40 anniversary of the Stones. To commemorate this event, we wrote a song about the early days. If you know your Stones history, you will recall that there manager Andrew Oldham told Mick and Keith that if they want this thing to last, you need to write your own songs because how many old obscure blues songs are you going to find.

Andrew locked them in a room and told them "your not coming out until you have a song." Lucky for us they did.

Now 40 years later, our manager Smokie "Olham" Diggin's said to us " boy's how many old obscure Rolling Stones tunes are you going to find like 2 or 3 hundred?" So to keep this alive he locked us in the back of Goat Lounge Studios and told us to write some lick's of our own.
Thanks Smokie!

Write your 40 lick's Lyrics
Cozz/Pop's/Kid

Let me tell'ya story bout'ta 40 lick's
Long long way from route'ta 66
Hangin' with the boys back in Edith Grove
Listenin to Muddy Wattas, & cookin on da stove

Jamin with charley, brian, keefer and me,
Next thing we're sellin out the… ol'Marquee
Gotta write your licks that's what Andrew said
Or before we know it… this thing will be dead.

He Said

Chorus

He Hey Hey write your40 licks
Hey Hey Hey gonna get your kicks
Ya YA Ya go on and scream & shout
Jamin in the Soup get's my Ya Ya's out

Flew on in a jet into J.F.K.
Started rollin stonin in the USA
I think they must of liked us don't ya know
Next thing we're playin' on the Sullivan show

Flew back to Heathrow gonna to paint the town
News of the world tried to bring us down
Who breaks a butterfly on the wheel
Street fighting men we made an appeal

Chorus

Said goodbye to bryan in Hyde Park
Taylor's Sticky Fingers gave us a spark
Back in altamont at the old Raceway
Angels gimmie shelter but blew us away

Said goodbye to England to pay the rent
Exiled on main street without a cent
When the lips came down wolfman said
If jesus came to town he couldn't make more bread

Jamin with charley, Taylor keefer and me
Next thing we're sellin out the… M.S.G*
Its only Rock and Roll that what we said
Were gona get our rocks off until we are dead
